Milltown Day
Nearly
60 Milltown businesses and community groups helped sponsor this event,
with 27 organizations taking lead sponsorship positions.
We were
able to maintain the high level of sponsorships from last year, which
will enable us to keep this event self-sufficient and help us to
sponsor more community beautification projects.
Over 30
community groups hosted fun and informative display tables offering
giveaways and contests as part of the Community Pride Fair.
Many were able to raise funds for their causes.
Two
dozen local businesses and arts & crafts vendors also went
all-out for this year’s Business Expo by hosting display
tables with giveaways and attractions.
The money gained
through sponsorships
will help to fund future projects including our most exciting project
to date- a Victorian street clock to be erected in the center of
Milltown.
Once again, scores of
children were processed by the Milltown Mason’s Child ID
program.
We
offered many attractions for everyone’s entertainment
including stage performances, sports competitions, the pet show, and
the classic car show.
Last but not least,
Milltown's Got Talent! provided fabulous entertainment for all.
The delicious food court provided a
wide variety of delicious food
choices.
We enjoyed good
media coverage from local newspapers like the Sentinel and The Home
News and Tribune.

Overview
The
group has existed since January
1988 when it was accepted by the Milltown Borough Council during its
annual organizational meeting. Originally called the Main Street
Revitalization Committee, the group soon renamed itself the Milltown
Revitalization Committee.
The Committee has 10 appointed members including local business owners
and private citizens who recognize that even the best community needs
constant attention to remain prosperous. It also has volunteer members
who assist with special projects and events. The Committee meets on the
second Wednesday of every month at 7 P.M. in Borough Hall.
Volunteers and visitors are
always welcome.
Town
Center
Designation
Revitalizing
our Main Street remains
a focus
of the Committee, which has petitioned the State of New Jersey for
"Town Center Designation". The designation, if granted by the State
Planning Commission, would give Milltown priority status when applying
for various county, state and federal grants for downtown improvements.
Current
Projects
Milltown Day 2009-
we're
getting started on plans for our most exciting and fun Milltown Day
ever! More updates soon!
The Milltown Clock
Project- a
project that will bring a beautiful and functional Victorian-style
street clock to Milltown. Visit www.milltownclockproject.org
for more
information.
The
Future
The Committee would like to follow up
the Clock Project with other projects that beautify and improve both
the beauty and quality of life of Milltown's Main Street area. Our
goals are to attract more patrons to Milltown's businesses
and new residents who are looking for the kind of life that
Milltown offers. Pedestrian-friendly projects such as lighted
crosswalks and streetscape improvements are among ideas we are
considering.
Are you interested in
sharing your great ideas with the Committtee? Are you looking to get
involved? We are always looking for new members and volunteers. Our
meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month at 7:00 P.M.
at
Borough Hall. We'd love to see you!
